Treating Fibromyalgia with Medication

There are several medications for fibromyalgia on the market. There are three that have been approved by the FDA: Lyrica, Cymbalta, and Milnacipran. These three drugs have been shown to reduce pain in many fibromyalgia patients, although they do not work for everyone.

It has also been found that anti-depressants can be effective in reducing the symptoms of fibromyalgia. They may help with pain and have been shown to relieve depression as well as issues with fatigue and poor sleep quality. Fibromyalgia patients often report better quality of life when on anti-depressants.

Other medications that may help fibromyalgia sufferers include muscle relaxants, ant-seizure medications, and opioid painkillers, such as Tramadol. More info: fibromyalgia medication
